I really did like this book; it was one of my favorite genres, action. This book was hard to get into at first because I couldn't get into it because it was telling a lot about what Hunger Games was, and the author went into a lot of detail about what everything was about. One thing I really liked about the book was the fact that I didn’t know what was going to happen next and usually books are predictable. I felt like the author really wrote something that was so different then anything I’ve read before or heard about. What I didn’t like about this book is that it wasn’t something that I could really get into because of the beginning but by the end of the book I couldn’t put it down. I love how there was a love story going on between Katniss and Peeta. What was really cool was the way that you could get attached to the characters really easily but unfortunately some would die and you would feel as if it was in your own life you had a loss. This book was very different in a sense you know it’s fake but you think its real.
What was unique about the setting of the book and how did it enhance or take away from the story?
The setting of the book was really cool and different from my imagination totally. I think that it enhanced the story because the author had a strange environment and world along with the people and characters. I think what was really unique about this setting of the book was that there were different districts and how you can’t interact with each other (districts). Also all of the districts were very different in the sense that each one has a specific way of life, for example some were fishers, hunters, sewers, making clothes, things like that and there are technically 13 districts but number 13 was terminated. 1-12 has different wealthy divisions; 1 is the wealthiest and 12 is the poorest.
Do the characters seem real and believable? Can you relate to their predicaments? To what extent do they remind you of yourself or someone you know?
The characters do seem real and believable. I can’t relate to their predicaments because they fought for their lives in the Hunger Games, it was kind of like survivor, which I can’t relate to either, but they made alliances but they had to kill each other and the last one standing wins. They don’t really remind me of me or anyone I know, but they do remind me of some particular love stories of my friends, like the boy likes the girl and then you don’t know if it’s for real or not. So I mean only things like the aspects of the relationships are practical but other then that I can’t relate very much. Like I said before I really could get attached to the characters and when one would die or something happen to them I would feel that stress of a loss while I was reading which made the book very realistic and then also when I go to think about reading the next 2 books I get really excided. So I mean the whole story is realistic in ways of getting into it and having emotional attachments to the characters but the base of society isn’t really realistic.
